First 2 weeks

After getting home from the hospital we had to start figuring out life with an 8 yr. old and a newborn, which thankfully hasn't been bad at all, actually kinda easy. Credit has to be given to Spencer for being patient with two sleep-deprived parents, and a little baby.

So what went on the two weeks after coming home? Here are some pictures of it...well, mostly Preston....sleeping.

Eating some chocolate covered strawberries that my best friends got me!! They were DELICIOUS and exactly what I (and apparently everyone else at our house) needed after having a baby.
Preston sleeping...okay so you'll get lots of these pictures, but he is SO DANG CUTE!! I mean really, look at this skin?!!? Beautiful!
Tyler was able to take off some weeks to help me out and to be here for Spencer. This is what was done a lot during these two weeks....Minecraft playing. Um, and do you like how they are dressed the same, and they were sitting exactly alike too.

Another sleeping Preston, but all snuggled.

Preston awake!! I was trying to get his eye color, because we are not sure if they are turning hazel (like my eyes) or not. They are definitely not going to be a light blue like Spencer.

Smiling in his sleep Preston.
In the car seat while we ate dinner. So tiny in such a big chair. I love how his legs are in this picture though, just a little curly, and yes do you see those toes?!?! They remind me of gorilla toes whenever I see them.
Pondering or confused Preston.
Tyler getting sleep in whenever he could. I love getting pictures of him and the boys sleeping, such cuteness.
Profile picture, and look at that red hair!
Finally, last picture (on this post) of Preston sleeping. Love the red hair, and that he got those hands up around his face. In his ultrasound picture he had his hands right by his face, and ever since he was born he has tried to keep them there, even while being swaddled. Somehow he figures out a way to get those hands to pop out.

Lego Museum

Over the summer Spencer came up with lots of ideas to get through the days here at home, and one of those ideas was a Lego Museum! He's so creative, I don't know where he gets it from.

Here is the whole Museum on his bed.

As you can see he even did little notes below the creations so you would know their title and what they did. I was just happy he was writing a lot while on summer break from school!

Let's start our tour:
The first creation is called: Platform Ship, it and its brother are not useful for fighting.

X Fighters Brothers: in attack mode are brothers.

Pocket Ship: an old fashioned rocket ship.
Pie Sled (maybe?): This is a pie sled, it is a bad defense, a (something?) ship, but yummy.

Coin Ship: a two part ship. It is a really good ship to destroy.

The Coin Ship put together.

The Coin Box: a place where you can put your coins.

Bomb Holder: a good place to put bombs.

Rainbow Snake: a long colorful snake.

A Ship: Is a good ship to use during battle.

And this concludes the tour of the Lego Museum.

I love how Spencer made such different ships and thought out what would be good for a battle or not, such creative juices flowing!!

Coming Home with a Baby!!

Here is W holding Preston at the hospital. He was so great with Preston and loves this little baby so much! I love that we have such great cousins for our kids!!!

Here is what we came home to from the hospital! They did such a great job at welcoming us home! The computer is out because they had the song "Baby, Baby" by Justin Bieber playing. Which became an inside joke, because I was told that I could have music playing while the baby was born, so my sister and nephew were all into figuring out the BEST song to have playing while baby was born, one of which was "Baby, Baby". I declined this offer and did not have any of my music playing, but while they were stitching me up I did hear some music being played. Also one thing I love about this picture is that Spencer and his cousin seem to have the same expression on their face. :)

The marshmallow names they got ready for Preston. So cute!

The pretty flowers (that were purple and blue, not pink) they got me while running home in the down-pouring rain one day.

And we are home!! YAY! I was so ready to be back home.

And we were all excited to have Preston home with us. Hmm...this could be counted as our first family picture.

Preston at the hospital while sleeping. He's so cute.

Tyler was a champion husband this week. He came to the hospital and just sat with me during the day so I wasn't lonely. He did get a little bored, here he is playing video games while holding Preston. The first time of many.

Preston while at the hospital and his first week home had the smoothest skin and it was just so...pretty!
Here he is at home on the first day, see how his skin just is smooth and pretty?!!?
Aunt Liza (or Aunt Ya-ya) and Preston. She was my life saver this week of helping out with Spencer and then also taking care of me and our apartment. THANK YOU!
 Sleeping Preston.

One last thing....HAPPY one month BIRTHDAY PRESTON!!!

Introducing...

....the newest addition to our family!!
PRESTON!

We are so happy that he is apart of our family now and we get to just cuddle with him whenever we want to, it's the best! So, I have to write down how he came into this world, because this is what is happening in our lives right now. The past month has been SUPER busy, and sadly I'm too far behind on posts, so hopefully I can catch up.

On Monday, August 13th, we headed to the hospital about 5:30 in the morning. My sister and her son came to stay with us and Spencer while we went to the hospital, which was a life saver!!!! THANK YOU so much to them and all the help they gave us. Anyway, we get to the hospital, I get into my lovely gown and we go to the room where I would wait to go to surgery and then come back to after surgery.

Yes, I had a scheduled c-section, because Spencer was an emergency c-section and huge, and so we didn't want to have to try to push a big baby out the second time around. Which I was fine with. While getting ready for surgery they asked tons of questions, and I got my IV in, which is no easy feat. I have HORRIBLE veins, really. Every nurse thinks I don't until they try to look for one and can't find any. I get blood taken from my wrist/hand/elbow, it's weird. Anyway, the nurse could only find a good juicy vein for the IV on the back of my forearm, which I was okay with, I hate needles so not being able to see it was alright by me! We waited around more, and I met the anesthesiologist, he was very nice and I heard one of the best. Then Tyler got into his scrubs, I got my fabulous hat on, and drank this really bad spicy antacid juice. Blech, luckily it was only 1 oz.

Then the doctor was ready! I was super nervous, last time with Spencer I had an emergency c-section, and was put to sleep during the procedure because they needed to get him out ASAP! So this time I still didn't know what to expect and was VERY afraid I would feel pain and I REALLY wasn't looking forward to the epidural.

I get into the surgical room (without Tyler, he wasn't allowed in until they started the first incision), and sat on the table to get ready for the dreaded but grateful epidural. And guess what we found out? My back is weird!!!! He had to stick me THREE times with the needle and it hurt. But when it finally was going I was glad to feel my legs slowly going away, and happy to get one of those microwaved warm blankets on me! The anesthesiologist was apologizing over and over again about having to stick me three times and me hating needles, and then it totally ruining his rep of being one of the best. I kept telling him it was fine, because I really couldn't feel anything.

Tyler came in, we both talked with the anesthesiologist more, and then all of the sudden the doctor says "You're going to feel pressure." Which means, the baby is coming! I was again worried about the pressure, but felt NOTHING!!! Then he came! (Pictures below are of him actually coming out, so if you are squeamish you can skip over pictures).

This is when the doctor was telling me what he looked like: "He has a big head! Oh, the cord is wrapped around his neck twice. He has strawberry blonde hair, it's kinda reddish! He's a good size baby boy!"

And I heard his cry and it was BEAUTIFUL! (thank you to our anesthesiologist again for taking these photos)

My doctor and baby Preston with those fists right at his face, a trait we have realized he has, always has his hands up by his face.

Getting cleaned up, still not happy.

All nice and warm and happy.

Meeting Daddy for the first time!

Seeing him for the first time made us so happy. He is the baby we have waited SO long for, and finally he is here!

Happy parents with their second son.

Daddy and Preston.

Mommy and Preston, I couldn't hold him, but I got to kiss on him some.

I love my little boy!

After we had our time with him, and they were not quite done with me yet, the nurses and Tyler took Preston to the nursery to get weighed and measured. We found out while in the recovery room that he was only 7 lbs. 9 oz! We were floored that he was so much smaller than Spencer, but happy that he was healthy. He does have the long legs, long fingers and long toes just like Spencer.

I stayed in the recovery room for most of the day, things were not going as great as they hoped, but everything was fine by mid-afternoon with me. Which I was happy about and could soon see Preston again. When we got to our room, Liza and the boys had come to the hospital. So I got to my room that I would stay in for the next 4 days, and then Spencer came to see me and his new baby brother!

Spencer meeting Preston for the first time. He feel in love immediately!

To finish up this story I was in the hospital until Thursday and the recovery from the surgery has gone good. Tyler has told me that I'm doing much better this time than last time, so that's good. It's been four weeks today since I had Preston and the pain isn't completely gone, but definitely NOT as intense. We are just so happy to finally have Preston here with our family. I can't believe that we are a family of four now!!! YAY!!!
