Cape Town Aquarium

One of the cloudy days while in Cape Town we decided to go to the Aquarium that was nearby. It was pretty great!

Spencer with all the Nemo's!!!
He loved being able to be in the middle of them all.
Big jellyfish.
Spider Crab, this photo makes it look really scary, but let's face it they are!
Our Spencer penguin.
We were able to watch them feed the penguins that were there.
Then the penguins went for a swim. They had an observation deck above the water, and below the water.
They started jumping out of the water! It was crazy how fast penguins can swim.
I see you penguin.
They are pretty cute animals.
The COOLEST thing ever! So you know how aquariums have huge walls of glass so you can watch all the fish swim around. Well this is that, but it was cloudy like water would normally be, and it had a small current. So the plants would sway back and forth, and it felt like you were actually in there with the fish.
Spencer underwater?
SHARK!
Watch out Spencer!!!!
A big school of fish.
Divers who were getting into the water to swim with the sharks and other fish. It was fun watching the one professional one and the other three who were doing it for the first time, especially when a shark would swim close by.
The aquarium was awesome as you can tell, and a bit different than other aquariums we have been to, just because of the different location.

Easter Weekend

Again I need to interrupt the vacation posts with an Easter post!!

This Easter weekend both of the boys had a four day weekend, so we filled it with family fun and relaxing with friends. Friday we decided to get the Easter eggs dyed.

As you can see, dying Easter eggs takes quite a bit of concentration.
Blurry picture of all three of us, sorry.
Tyler proud of his Easter eggs!
Tyler's finished Easter eggs.
Becca's finished Easter eggs
Spencer and his finished Easter eggs.
Saturday our friends were going to a lake nearby and having a BBQ, they invited us and we of course said YES! We had about 6 families come and play. It was a lot of fun with some VERY yummy food.
Tyler tried to teach Spencer how to skip rocks.
The sunset.
There was an owl in the tree, but all I could get was his eyes...kinda scary!!!
This was Spencer that night after we got home...what do you think? Worn out much? He was holding those movies so he could fall asleep to them, didn't quite make it.
Then Sunday morning came and Spencer found his Easter basket, but of course the first thing he picks up is his GIANT chocolate Easter bunny!!!
Found the rest of the basket.
Searching thru the loot.
All of our Easter candy and fun we got from the Easter bunny. I'd say it was quite a successful Easter.
We then went to church and then came home to watch a video about the real meaning of Easter. I was impressed that Spencer knew most of the story (we had been trying to teach him a little day by day this past week). Monday is a day for golfing, homework, laundry and going over to another friends house for dinner. What a fantastic Easter weekend!!!

African Penguins

The day after we arrived in Cape Town we decided to take a road trip down to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, we thought it would take 2 hours, but really only took 45 minutes, but we stopped off in Simon's Town to see the penguins that are there! It was beautiful driving down there, the scenery here is GORGEOUS!
As you can see Cape Town is where the big red dot is and Cape Point is all the way at the bottom, Simon's Town is the next red dot up on the right side. We were able to follow False Bay during the drive back up to Cape Town and it was so pretty. Just to warn you, I LOVE the water, not to be in it, but just seeing it, watching it, hearing it, and so I will have probably a lot more water pictures on here than you like, but I love them. :)

Starting our drive.
Seeing False Bay!
Our first glimpse at a McDonald's that we've had in 11 months!!!! And yes we did stop back there on our way home to eat lunch, and it was divine!!!!
A look at False Bay from Simon's Town, breathtaking.
A lighthouse out in the water.
The lighthouse on the left and then that rock on the right is called Noah's Rock.
This was the boardwalk we took to go down and see the penguins, it was quite a windy day too. See the penguin to the right??
Spencer almost missed this one right next to the boardwalk. They were so cute!
I love this smile of Spencer's, and then there are penguins behind him in the brush.
Beautiful look out into the Bay.
A penguin.
A mommy penguin covering up her baby!!
Lots of African Penguins!
We loved watching them and waiting for them to go jump in the water, but it was a tad cold so I don't blame them for not going in too much.
I took this picture because these four looked like they were in a club about to go off and do secret stuff.
Nice beach, huh?
More penguins up close.
Finally one got into the water! But he didn't stay for too long.
We had a blast watching the penguins just waddle around everywhere, and the day was beautiful as you can see.

Cape Town, South Africa

For Spencer's Spring Break we decided to take one more trip outside of Zimbabwe before we move back to the States. So we went to Cape Town, South Africa and had a wonderful time! Again, I'll have to break down our trip because there was so much that we did, too many photos, and so many great memories for just one post.
We'll first start off with our hotel. We stayed at the Westin, which we have found out we really like them, the rooms and beds and hospitality is all great. The first night we got into Cape Town we found out there was a Jazz Festival going on. Earth, Wind and Fire were even there, but we did not see them. But part of the festival was right next to our hotel, so we had jazz music blasting away till about 1 or 2am the first night, but it was still not too bad. Here are pictures that we saw from our windows.

This mountain in the center is called The Lion's Head.
Right below us was the park area where the Jazz Festival went on. See that bright white at the bottom center...that's the Jazz singer!!
All the people going into the convention center for another concert.
Looking out onto the harbor.
Table Mountain.
The maids were sweet with Spencer's stuffed animals. See the bear hugging the zebra. :) And yes, that is a warthog on the left. He found one in one of the gift shops we went into, and since the warthog is his mascot at school he really wanted one.
