Cool Things That Happen in NYC- part 2

This past week I came home one day and was talking to my parents on the phone, then out of our living room window I could see some tall masts from boats. I wonder what was going on, and my dad informed me it's Fleet Week here in NYC!!! I never keep up with things, and so it's always so fun to have these surprising entertaining things happen right outside our window!

Here are some pictures and videos of the things I saw, sorry there is so much, but really it was a Parade of Boats, tall boats and warships.

The line of tall boats.

And here come the warships. It was a bit foggy this morning and rainy, but I love these next two pictures because they remind me of something out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates on the horizon!

Not only did we have boats and ships we got airplanes and fighter jets too!

Oh, and the Blue Angels did a fly by! It was pretty cool.

After the Blue Angels did a couple of fly bys it started looking like rain, so I went back to the apartment so I wouldn't have to run in the rain. Here are some more ships from our living room window.

So big!!!

Just some more of the fun things that happen here in New York City. Also, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! or Decoration Day as it used to be called.

Broadway- 6

For Mother's Day, Tyler surprised me with tickets to go and see either Evita on Broadway or Once. I decided with Once because I had heard such great things about it, and it's up for 11 Tony nominations!!!! I had to see what the commotion was about, and thought I would see Evita later (hopefully).

It's a story about a man who sings and writes his own songs, and the songs are about a girlfriend he used to have or still has, but she is in New York and he is in Dublin, Ireland. And then one day a girl who is Czech walks into his life and helps him realize the gift that he has with his music. It's quite touching, and the songs are INCREDIBLE!!!! The only sad thing about this was the usage of the F-word so much. But the story was still interesting and funny and inspiring to go after your dreams.

The leads in this play were amazing! I mean they had chemistry and they wrapped you up into the play so easily. There was also no orchestra for this play because all the actors played their own instruments, which was amazing.

Another different thing about the play was that all the actors stayed on the stage the whole time!!! They just went to the side if it wasn't their turn. It wasn't distracting at all either.

My favorite song from the play:

Broadway- 5

Our next play that we were able to see with Spencer on Broadway was Newsies!!! It was suppose to be here for just 101 shows, but then it sold out so fast that they extended it until mid-August. We were excited, and knew we could not miss out on this great musical!

Spencer was not so sure about it, but he actually really LOVED it, even if the story line was a bit hard for him to follow. He could follow all the dancing and singing. The dancing that these boys do in this musical is AMAZING!!!

Yes, see....amazing!

The lead was done by Jeremy Jordan (who was also in Joyful Noise). He did a great job, as well as all the other guys. Who some of them were from the show So You Think You Can Dance, and one of the guys I recognized, Evan.

Jeremy is the one singing in the middle and Evan is the third person from the right, with the red hat.

All the guys! Such a great show, and if you are here before mid-August I highly recommend you go see this musical.

Baby Boy

After our vacation we were back to regular life. Spencer went back to school, Tyler went back to work, and I went back to the doctor's.

When I did the 20 week ultrasound baby boy was moving around so much and kicking at the ultrasound device that they could not get all the measurements and good looks that they wanted to. In fact, it was the heart that they could not get a good look at, so they scheduled for me to come back two weeks later after the vacation.

Thankfully, even though baby boy still moved a lot they got good looks at the heart and took some more measurements, and checked again for me that it was actually a boy. Everything went well and he is healthy and growing!

Our baby.
The first time I looked at this picture I could completely see Spencer in it. Anyone else??

Disney World- at night

We knew that we wanted to see the Electric Parade and the fireworks at night at the Magic Kingdom, so we rested at the hotel for the afternoon then got ready to go eat dinner at the park. The parade didn't start until 8pm (I think), and so we decided we could go eat dinner around 6pm there in the park and then do a few rides and see the parade and fireworks. Well, we got there at 6pm and got our dinner, but then I started to notice that people were already sitting on the curbs to get their seats for the parade!!! I made a mommy decision and Tyler agreed that we should sit down and eat and just wait.

Here's Spencer waiting the two hours we wanted to.
Luckily we had brought our phones so he played games and we people watched.

The castle at night. Pretty purple!

The Electric Parade started and it was fantastic!!! Here is Tinker Bell waving to us, Spencer waved to her and she got the giggles and it was really cute.

 Goofy in the train.

So many lights and most things moved too!

Alice on top of a mushroom.

 Mice from Cinderella.

Captain Hook and Peter Pan were fighting on this ship.

 The Dwarfs!

 Pinocchio.

I'm not quite sure where this is from, but it's a dragon named Eliot.

After the parade we just stayed in our spots, which were really GREAT seats, and waited for the fireworks to start. They did and it was magical! We loved it!

Yes, Spencer loved it too. I love these faces.

 The finale.

All done, so they lit the castle back up.

And THAT was our fabulous Spring Break trip of 2012! Pretty fantastic.

Disney World- Magic Kingdom

As for the last post about what that last picture of the space thing was from...Flight of the Navigator!! One of our favorite movies from the 80s, and Spencer has seen it many times and has loved it.

Magic Kingdom!!
Cute Spencer.

First picture where you can kinda see my belly (I was 21 weeks). It looks like I'm totally squishing Spencer, but I wasn't, and I don't know why he did a frowny face. We were able to go an hour early before the park opened to the regular public, which we love and rode on SOOO many rides before it was mid-morning!

Spencer again had the map, and as you can tell he was on a mission.

Had to get a picture with the castle, which I was quite happy that this castle was as big as I thought it was going to be, unlike the castle in Disney Land.

We knew Buzz Lightyear would be a busy ride, so we went to that one first. Got on right away and then decided to ride it again real fast so we could get all of that taken care of. So we got to ride it twice in a 15 minute time frame.

After Buzz we went on to Fantasyland, and got all of the fun rides done too. Dumbo was at the top of our list. I didn't want to ride this one, so Spencer just walked right up to the line without us, and got on without any of our help. First time I really realized that he was okay to go off on his own. Made me nervous, but happy that he has confidence. Anyway, so he got on the Dumbo ride and I took too many pictures of him going around and around.

And he was okay with that because he made a different face every time I think.

 See.

We did other rides in Fantasyland, but here we are on the Tea Cups. Tyler can't do this round and round type of rides, so I thought I would be okay with it, and I was. I love love LOVE seeing the faces that he makes while on this ride, so I had to ride. Getting ready to ride....so excited.

THIS is the face I wanted to see.

So, I promise one second before I clicked to get this picture he was smiling, but a noise happened to stop the ride and I got his reaction to the loud noise instead.

Tyler and Spencer excited to ride another ride. Peter Pan? Winnie the Pooh? the Snow White one?? not sure, but they were happy.

It's a Small World ride is one of Spencer's favorites. Tyler's too I think. We sit there and figure out which dolls are from which nations. Spencer gets quite a few of them.

The carousel. Again I'm the rider with this one because Tyler does not like the round and round things.

While the boys went into the Pirates of the Caribbean ride I waited outside, and saw Jack Sparrow instead!

Magic Kingdom was so much fun and this was just our first half of the day. We really did get a lot of the rides in by mid-morning and then kinda walked around to see other things and did rides here and there. After we had ridden the rides we decided to go back to the hotel to rest, so we would be ready for the evening fun we were going to have back at the park, and I need to get my feet up since they were starting to swell just a bit. Stay tuned for the fun had at night!!!
