Next stop?

Alot of people have asked us when we will be done with this great adventure we are on. Well there is two answers to that. First, we will be leaving the Congo in the summer/fall of 2009. However, most likely we will be spending the next 20 years or so, we will be living overseas off and on. Because we love our family and friends so much, we want to get your input on where we should bid for next (bid is the state depatment term for putting in for a certain place). Just because we bid on it, doesn't mean we will get it. We want to know what places you think we should go, as well as what places you will visit if we go there. No matter where we go, everybody is welcome to come visit, you will have a free place to stay and we will show you a good time. You can pick anywhere in the World, besides the United States. This will also give us a chance to know who is looking at our blog, so I encourage everybody who reads this to respond. Who knows, maybe if several people pick the same place I will bid for that place.

Well since I am the person will have to be taken to all of these other places, here is my pick: THE STATES!! :) Hopefully we'll be back there before I know it. But other than that I say somewhere in Europe: England, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy. Any of those will do.

We'll have to start saving our pennies now! I vote England or Ireland too. That way the culture shock won't be too bad. Also, go somewhere in the Carribean! Of Hawaii!

We are going to be realistic about the choice. Pretty much it most likely will be in Africa or some other French speaking location. So as long as it is safe we'll be happy. Todd and Jeanne

Everything sounds good so far... but is it true, that realistically you will probably still be speaking French and in Africa? Would you want to go back to Madagascar? What about Morocco, the Ivory Coast, or Egypt? I had friend serve in Cape Verde where they speak some
French, and I heard it is beautiful.

I think Greece would be cool (they are a member of the OIF). Or Switzerland. Or Saint-Lucia.

Those are my realistic French choices. I'm the oddball, I guess.

so since i am being logical as well as some other people, i will pick someplace in africa. now i dont follow news very well, so i may name some places that are not safe. so if they are not then discount them, same as if you can't go there. Kenya, egypt(thought i know its not likely, isn't morocco suppose to be nice? but i think it is dangerous? see i really dont know what is safe. what about some cool island off of africa? anywho i probably wasn't much help but what do you expect from someone who is pregnant and not up to date with whats going on?

I choose skaneateles, ny. First, it is a really cool name (skinny-atlas). Second, well there is no second it is such a cool name for a city.

As a mother, I say someplace in Virginia!! :) But, in reality I say it will probably be somewhere in Africa or Europe. Morocco would be nice or I would love to visit you in Europe. I just want you to be safe and Becca be able to get out and do things and both of you to serve in the Church and Spencer to be able to go to a good school. Love to you all,Mom

So many choices. maybe you will eventually get to live in them all! But one place most people probably don't think of that I would say would be interesting is India. I know some people who travel to India often for their jobs and they love seeing and visiting India, even when they aren't traveling for work they go back often to help with the orphanage's in India and they say its definitly a cultral shock, but one thats well worth experiencing. and they said its very much a humble place to live.
Just an idea though, also I would probably stay away from France, I heard unless you are around the tourist areas its a very dirty gross place to be. And I don't mean poverty gross, but sick, nasty people gross. but again I have never traveled much, so this is coming from people I know that have traveled. But i think it's cool how you already are living in Africa, that would have been my first choice.

Oh Becca & Tyler what an adventure you guys are on...a once in lifetime chance, for your next stop I would have to vote for England, my home could connect you with lots of neat people if you did make it over there, of course the $ is not worth much there right now or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. So I would have to say England land of the green.
